Ready for the fall

October 22, 2009

Although I moan about the cold, this time of year is definitely  my favourite, photographically speaking. All those warm golds and burnt oranges, all those lovely leaves just begging to be used as bokeh-licious backdrops.

As beautifully as Bali was, it was even more awesome to come home to a whole new season – a recent drive through Phoenix Park saw me ooh-ing and aah-ing like a child – “Look at that tree! Look how it changes colour! Check out those leaves! Look, look, they’re swirling!” Thankfully Eoghan just nodded and smiled, because he surely would have crashed if he turned to look every time I gushed about the pretty autumn-ness of it all.

I recently shot a few portraits by the Grand Canal (pics coming soon) and just loved the way the light got filtered through the leaves, and the way the gorgeously gold and green trees were reflected in the water (definitely didn’t look like the same canal one regularly sees shopping trolleys in!)

So what if I nearly skid to my death trying to run for the bus across a damp pavement strewn with leaves? So what if the sudden cold snap leaves me at home drinking tea when I should out dancing? It’s so pretty it’s worth it.

I spotted this sunrise through my rainy bedroom window sometime after 7am yesterday morning, and had to snap it:

I’ve used these pics, plus a couple of others, as my new Twitter background, hoping they will help keep me loving autumn even when my nose is red and runny and my umbrella turns inside out.

That time of year

August 14, 2009

I just seem to be seeing bees EVERYWHERE. I love the wing detail in this one, surprised my lens (50mm 1.4, or ‘Fiddy’ as I call it) picked it up so well.

Gettin’ busy

July 20, 2009

Aha, I spy a pretty flower…

Lookin’ good….

Wohoo, jackpot! I’m well in there…

*The bee might not have said/thought any of this.
